are truly amazing, while his industry knowledge and encouragement are a bonus for anyone undertaking the challenges of screenwriting."
- Ms. Chantel Lacy, Novelist.
"I finished reviewing the [edited] manuscript late last night and I am very pleased with the results. I even took your advice on revising Abigail's story. There are a lot of editing services out there and it is difficult to know which is the best, especially for new authors. I feel fortunate that I found your website. You were so easy to work with and you did an excellent job. I really value your professional and candid opinion and I also look forward to working with you on future endeavors."
- Ms. Jun Hayashida, Screenwriter.
"Thank you for helping out with my script. My script became a lot better. I really appreciate your knowledge of screenwriting and your sense of humor."
Novel and Screenwriting Experience
Like most writers, Andrew has a creative side, which has manifested itself in a novel that has attracted the attention of a New York agent and several screenplays that have, between them, achieved:
- Two "considers" from Hollywood production companies.
- A final ten placing in the People's Picture Show screenwriting competition.
- A quarterfinal placing in the Scriptapalooza screenwriting competition.
- A top 10% place in the most prestigious competition of them all, the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting.
His scripts have also gleaned a number of flattering comments from industry professionals, including this one from a Hollywood producer:
"[The script] is very entertaining and well written, both structurally and stylistically. Either you have a rare natural talent for screenwriting or have been studying it extensively (or both!), because it is far better than nearly everything I have read ..."
And this one from the good folks at Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope:
"There is absolutely nothing here to insult a reader. I found no typos - an outstanding achievement, demonstrating attention to detail. Important! ... It sets an example that amateurs and pros alike can learn from. Bravo!"
This understanding of both the creative and technical processes involved in writing enables Andrew to provide exceptionally intuitive work for authors and screenwriters.
Although still writing in his spare time, Andrew enjoys helping others perfect their work while he waits for that call from Mr. Spielberg!
Education
Andrew Randall was educated at
St. Benedict's, one of the finest private schools in West London, England. Consequently, he is able to edit in both UK and American English. (Quirky British-ism: This type of exclusive private school - like Eton and Harrow - is actually called a "Public School" in England. Don't ask!)
The school has educated many fine scholars, scientists, politicians, athletes and artists, and is proud to include among its alumni, or "Old Boys", as they're known locally (Yes, even the ladies!):
|
Chris Patten |
Britain's last governor to Hong Kong and the man responsible for handing the territory back
to China in 1997. Unlike previous Hong Kong Governors, Patten refused to be knighted upon his return to England, as he was
not willing to give up his political career. (After leaving the European Commission in 2004 he was made a life peer.) |
| Andy Serkis |
The actor behind the character "Gollum" in the recent "Lord of the Rings" movies (among many
other notable film, TV and stage roles). |
| Julian Clary
| Outrageously funny TV, film and stage entertainer. |
| Labi Siffre |
Singer/songwriter of such classics as It Must Be Love, most famously covered by Madness; "I Got The," as sampled on Eminem's hit "My Name Is;" and the hauntingly beautiful tribute to Nelson Mandela,
Something Inside So Strong.
|
| Deborah Bell, J.P. |
Former Lady Mayoress of Westminster and an accomplished magistrate. |
| Damian Hopley |
Chief Executive of the Professional Rugby Players Association and former member of the England Rugby Union squad. (World Champions 2003. Hurrah!) |
| Robert Hines |
Another actor, who has garnered roles in "Hellraiser" and "Frankenstein," to name a few. |
| Iain Softley |
Director of the movies "Backbeat," "Hackers," "The Wings of the Dove," and "K-PAX." |
| Adrian Matthews |
Author of the award winning novel "Vienna Blood." |
| Bob Wellings |
Presenter for the BBC. |
| Simon Fung |
Founder and one half of the pop duo China Black. |
Because of its sterling reputation, the school also attracts the offspring of many celebrities.
Older readers may remember the singer Matt Monro, whose son attended the school when Andrew was there, as did the son of Sir Henry Cooper, whom sports fans will remember as the first boxer to
knock down Muhammad Ali.
Andrew also shared desk space at the school with Matthew Bannister, son of the actor Trevor Bannister, who is known to American audiences as "Mr. Lucas" from the BBC comedy
